Important Information Regarding Property Assessment

This may affect your 2021 property taxes.

The Board of Appeal and Equalization for City of Bellechester will meet on April 16th, 5:00 for Goodhue County and 5:30 for Wabasha County, at Bellechester Community Center.  The purpose of this meeting is to determine whether property in the jurisdiction has been properly valued and classified by the assessor. If you believe the value or classification of your property is incorrect, please contact your assessor’s office prior to the meeting to discuss your concerns.  If you disagree with the valuation or classification after discussing it with your assessor, you may appear before the local Board of Appeal and Equalization.  The board will review your assessments and may make corrections as needed.  Generally, you must appeal to the local board before appealing to the county board of appeal and equalization.

Goodhue County Residents:  Due to recent circumstances to keep residents safe and healthy, please call the county before the meeting rather than attending the meeting.  In most cases, this is the most effective way to answer any questions you have directly with them.  Residents also have the option to email the county prior to the April 16th meeting.   For those taxpayers attending, we will plan to have taxpayers take a number and wait outside in their cars until it is their turn.  The time for the Goodhue County Board of Equalization is 5:00 – 5:30.  The contact for Goodhue County is: Joe Hile @ 651-385-3016 or Joe.hile@co.goodhue.mn.us

Wabasha County Residents: Again, due to recent circumstances to keep residents safe and healthy, please call the county before the meeting rather than attending the meeting.  In most cases, this is the most effective way to answer any questions you have directly with them.  Residents also have the option to email the county prior to the April 16th meeting.   The time for Wabasha County property owners is from 5:30 – 6:00.  Wabasha County representatives will not be in attendance but will be available to call.  If this is what you would like to do, please contact the City of Bellechester @ 923-4093 to arrange this.  Otherwise, contact them directly before April 16th at Wabasha County, the contact is Chris Link, Wabasha County Assessor, 651-565-3005 or clink@co.wabasha.mn.us.
